INSURANCE AND COVERAGE

Know what your plan covers before care begins.

Home Doc bills eligible visits to insurance in the same general way as other clinician appointments. Because plan networks and benefits vary, the intake team verifies each patient's specific coverage before the first visit.

Where care is available

Insurance plans currently listed.

Home Doc accepts plans from Medicare, Medicaid, Aetna, Cigna, and UnitedHealthcare. Home Doc does not accept every plan offered by these insurers. Listing an insurer does not guarantee that a specific plan or service is covered.

BEFORE THE FIRST VISIT

A clear coverage-verification process.

Patients or authorized representatives can contact the intake team with insurance details. The team will check whether Home Doc participates with the specific plan and explain known next steps.

Final benefits and cost-sharing remain subject to the insurer's rules and claim processing.

Have your insurance card, policy details, and preferred service ready when you contact intake.

PLAN CATEGORIES

Accepted insurer names do not mean every plan is in network.

Home Doc accepts plans from Medicare, Medicaid, Aetna, Cigna, and UnitedHealthcare. Each insurer may offer multiple products, networks, employer arrangements, Medicare Advantage plans, or managed-care options. A plan carrying one of these names still needs to be checked before care begins.

Coverage may also differ by service. A psychiatric evaluation, follow-up medical visit, palliative consultation, and transitional-care service can be billed under different rules. Intake verifies the intended service and the patient's specific coverage rather than relying on the insurer name alone.

WHAT INTAKE NEEDS

Prepare the information needed for coverage verification.

Have the front and back of the insurance card, member or policy number, patient date of birth, policyholder information when different from the patient, requested service, and recent care setting available. Intake may also need referring-provider information and relevant records before scheduling can be finalized.

01

Share plan details

Provide the insurance card and information needed to identify the exact plan.

02

Match plan and service

03

Review next steps

The team explains what is known and whether more records, authorization, or plan confirmation is needed.

TELEHEALTH COVERAGE

Coverage rules can change by plan, service, and patient situation.

Medicare, Medicaid, Medicare Advantage, and commercial plans may apply different telehealth rules. The location of the patient, type of clinician, service code, network, benefit design, and current policy can all matter. For that reason, the website does not promise that a telehealth service will be covered solely because an insurer is listed.

Patients can begin on the Become a Patient page. Describe the care being requested and provide plan information through the approved inquiry process so intake can review the next step.

Frequently asked questions.

Does Home Doc take Medicare?

Home Doc accepts Medicare plans. Eligibility, medical necessity, covered services, deductibles, coinsurance, and plan-specific rules still apply.

Does Medicare cover telehealth?

Medicare covers some telehealth services when requirements are met, but coverage can vary by service, provider, location, plan type, and current Medicare rules. Home Doc verifies the specific plan and intended service.

Does Home Doc accept Medicaid?

Home Doc accepts Medicaid plans. Intake must verify the patient's specific plan and eligibility before care begins.

Which commercial insurers are listed?

The current site lists Aetna, Cigna, and UnitedHealthcare plans. Not every product or network from these insurers is accepted.

Can you tell me exactly what I will owe?

Home Doc can help verify known coverage, but final cost depends on the plan, benefits, deductible, coinsurance, medical necessity, claims, and services received.

Home Doc verifies your benefits with your insurer before your first visit and tells you what it finds, including anything that needs prior authorization. Verification confirms the network and benefit information on file; your plan still sets final patient responsibility through deductibles, copayments, coinsurance, and its processing of each claim.
